The Skeleton Horseman, one of if not the most rare of all the penny dreadful’s, with one to the earliest examples of an antihero/superhero who dawned a costume, the ‘Ghost Rider’ of the 1700s where it takes place. Owned by the famous Book Seller George Locke in which he spent time tracking down individual issues of weird fiction. This penny dreadful was a weekly serial in 1866 and here we have one of the most complete compiled 1st editions in the world if not the only one, the British library is the only known institution to hold another surviving copy, it’s completion is unknown but digital archives state 502 pages for the completed serial. This collection of serials have been through a lot but absolute rarity cannot be disregarded with this collection.
Condition - Poor/Good, Worn Binding, front cover of the first issue missing, part 60 of serial missing (the last serial issue), some loose pages and some reinforced with tape, some of the final pages included have amateur tear seals.
